2021 ACE Conference Sessions Call for Proposals

ACE is now accepting proposals for presentations at the 2021 virtual annual conference. We seek practical professional development for our members from the many disciplines that make up our jobs.

With the move to virtual, the selection committee will place a premium on interactivity and dynamic presentation of either 30 or 45 minutes. The committee will value features such as polls, breakout rooms, incorporation of chat, dynamic images and other techniques that take advantage of the virtual format.

The committee also encourages the inclusion of new voices. Proposals from experienced ACE members who seek to present again this year will be deemed more competitive if the veteran teams with a “mentee,” debut presenter or someone who has seldom presented.

The committee will also solicit proposals this year from non-members. We believe the virtual conference format affords an opportunity for presentations from industry, non-member university practitioners, government and non-profit professionals who would not attend an in-person conference.

Also new this year: Lightning round presentations. These 3- to 5-minute sessions are designed to present a series of focused, succinct, practical tips in rapid succession from a series of presenters.

In keeping with the conference theme of “Elevating Voices,” the committee seeks proposals that offer insights on how to communicate to or with underrepresented people in agriculture and natural resources.

Instructions: Please complete and submit this form to propose a professional development breakout session for the ACE 2021 Conference. Required fields are indicated by an asterisk (*). The individual listed as the primary contact will receive a confirmation email, and all correspondence regarding the session.

Timeline: The proposal submission deadline is February 17, 2021. The ACE 2021 Conference Committee will review proposals and make notifications of acceptance the week of March 8, 2021.

Review process: The ACE 2021 Conference Committee will review all session proposals and may recommend changes (e.g., combining sessions, different length). Final acceptance and scheduling is at the discretion of the committee, dependent on conference goals and schedule availability. No changes to topics and/or descriptions will be accepted after the submission deadline. 

Please note:

    • Proposals for invited sessions must also be submitted using this form and will go through the same review process.
    • Breakout session presenters must register for the conference. Registration will be available in April 2021. Exception: Invited presenters who attend for their session only do not need to register.
    • Learning Community leaders do not need to submit proposals for regular learning community business meetings.  Separately we will communicate with LC leaders about options to schedule their 75-minute meetings on Thursday/Friday of conference week. You are welcome to include some type of professional development in your LC meetings. A proposed LC meeting format: 5-10 minutes intro/45-minute subject matter specific professional development/20 minutes business meeting.
