Doug Edlund has spent most of his life in Tennessee. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communications from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He became an ACE member in 1999, and his first ACE conference just happened to be in Knoxville that year.
Edlund started his communications career as a videographer/journalist for WBIR-TV in Knoxville. His videography has been used in NBC News and CNN reports and has been featured in international news training seminars in over 40 countries and in television news classes at The University of Tennessee.
He joined The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) in 1999 as a video producer and later became assistant director in the communications unit. Edlund, in partnership with UTIA video producer Charles Denney, established a distribution network for UTIA video news in 1999 that still exists today. The duo produced over 50 video news stories per year, airing on numerous Tennessee television stations as well as national outlets, sharing research-based news and information about agriculture.
Since joining ACE, Edlund has served as ACE Tennessee State Representative, Membership Committee chair, Southern Region Director, chair of the 2013 ACE Centennial Conference in Indianapolis and Learning Community Director. He’s received numerous gold, silver and bronze C&A Awards as well as Outstanding Professional Skills Awards and an Award of Excellence for Marketing.
