Jennifer (Hoyer) Alexander grew up in small-town Iowa, at the intersection of Cooperative Extension and communications. She was in 4-H; her father worked in county Extension; and her mother worked as a reporter, radio news director and university communications specialist.
Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree with dual major in horticulture and journalism and mass communications and a master's degree in agricultural education, both from Iowa State University.
She joined Oregon State University Extension Communications in 2010, serving first as a publishing manager then assuming the director role in 2016. She previously worked as a technical editor for Kansas State University Research and Extension and in research communications for Pioneer Hi-Bred in Iowa.
During her term as president, Alexander focused on three priorities: (1) keeping ACE on track toward financial sustainability, (2) ensuring an inclusive and welcoming organizational culture and (3) positioning ACE members and the organization as valuable leadership partners.
Alexander previously served ACE as a state representative (KS), board member (regional and marketing director), Special Interest Group chair (Publishing and Design) and three conference planning committees. She was recognized with the ACE Pioneer Award and a team C&A gold award for publishing.
Alexander is a LEAD 21 alumnus. She strives to be a champion and example for early- and mid-career leaders, especially those who are weaving together work and family commitments.
