Judy Winn was born June 16, 1947 and raised in the small town of Bryan, Texas. She received her bachelor's degree in English from Southwestern University in 1969 and her master's degree in English from Texas A&M University in 1976.
Her interest in editing began when she served as editor of the Southwestern literary magazine and as an intern with a small publishing house in Austin. Early in her career, she was editor of several magazines in Dallas, including Metro/Beat, Petro/Chem Engineer, Pipeline and Gas Journal, Market Place, and Management Systems Journal.
Winn joined the staff of Texas Cooperative Extension as a communication specialist in 1974 and currently leads the publishing operation that produces educational publications, exhibits, electronic products and interactive programs in support of extension programs. She also oversees the online TCE bookstore.
She is the recipient of an ACE Pioneer Award, Outstanding Professional Skill Awards in publishing and in information technology, and the Award of Excellence in publishing.
