Robert Casler is director of marketing, communication and brand management in the Office of the Vice Provost and Dean, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Arizona. He has worked for the college since 1982. He oversees college branding; web site management; publication design and production; product marketing and distribution; impact reporting; science and news writing; and media relations.
Casler grew up in West Orange, New Jersey. He went to high school in Newark, and college at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, majoring in Russian Literature. He attended graduate school at Indiana University in Bloomington, majoring in Comparative Literature. He attended Warsaw University in Poland from 1979-80 as part of a student exchange program. At the University of Arizona he received a Master’s in Library and Information Science in 1991.
He served on the governing board of the Arizona Book Publishing Association and the Arizona Choral Arts Association.
As a member of ACE since 1992, Casler has served as Western regional representative for the Publishing SIG. He was instrumental in organizing the 1996 Western Regional Workshop held in Tucson. He served as Publishing SIG chair from 1999 to 2000, coordinating the introduction of the Electronic Publication category to C&A and the piloting of the PubSIG electronic newsletter. He was also a founding member of the X-Tension Chords and he attended the May 2001 ACE Summit in Moscow, Russia.
